leadership/governance

The product of an effective not-for-profit board of directors is effective decisions. Effective decisions are those that move your organization from its present situation to a desired future. Many times effective decision making by a board is hampered by confusion about roles, purpose, or troublesome group dynamics. ARI has developed a program, The Five Paths to Effective Governance, which improves the decision-making capacity of boards and senior leadership. Grounded in decades of research and experience, The Five Paths to Effective Governance is an interactive approach to board development. Using surveys, workshops, small group exercises, and webinars, The Five Paths lead board members and senior leadership staff through collective learning experiences.

The outcomes of these experiences are:

  • Aligning board structure and function with the organization’s strategic priorities

  • Improving the ability of the board to transform information into effective decisions

  • Developing a collaborative intellectual and analytical partnership between the board and senior leadership

Additionally, ARI advises and consults with Boards and Executives in temporary management, retreats, mergers, and reorganizations.
